Sitarama Kalyanam performed at Raghunayaka temple

The Sitarama Kalyanam was performed in a grand manner at the 11th century temple of Raghunayaka at Chadalavada in Prakasam district on Wednesday, eight days after the Srirama Navami Mahotsavam at Bhadrachalam, as per convention.

Braving the scorching heat, all eyes looked upwards in search of eagles, the vehicle of Lord Vishnu, making sorties signalling divine sanction for making the marriage rituals.

Grand spectacle

S.N.Padu MLA A. Suresh was among the devotees who witnessed the grand spectacle at the temple, an important seat of Vaishnavism since medieval times.

“Sighting the eagle and hearing its squeaking sound are considered auspicious,” said the temple priests led by Bagavathula Arunacharyulu, who performed the marriage to divine couple in the presence of tens of thousands of devotees
