Centre considering construction of Dugarajapatnam port: Sujana

Nellore : Union minister of state for science and technology YS Chowdary said that the government would consider construction of Dugarajapatnam Port, besides improvement of Pulicat Lake. Participating in various developmental programmes in Vakadu mandal on Saturday

he assured to speak with ministers-concerned regarding measures to be taken to open closed sea mouths of Pulicat Lake.Sujana Chowdary asserted that the Central government would not neglect any assurance which was incorporated in the AP Reorganisation Act.


He along with marketing minister Chadipiralla Adinarayana Reddy laid foundation stone for marine fish hatchery and ballast water testing facility at the National Institute of Ocean Technology seafront site at Pamanji, near here.Addressing a public meeting, Sujana Chowdary said that they would set up a school and a hospital for fishermen community soon here.


He said that research is going on to increase income of people who rely on marine fishing and also urged the fishermen to cultivate cage culture under the guidance of NIOT scientists to get more revenues.“Not only fishermen many other people, who rely on marine sources would get benefit from NIOT research centre,” he informed.


Agriculture minister Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy had requested the Union minister to take steps constructing Dugarajapatnam port, which was mentioned in the AP Reorganisation act. Tirupati MP Varaprasad, Gudur MLA P Sunil, Venkatagiri MLA K Ramakrishna were also present.
